The body of Tanzania’s dollar millionaire Reginald Mengi arrived today from Dubai where he died on Thursday, May 2 2019.
Thousands of Tanzanians flocked the streets of Dar es Salaam to have a final glimpse of the millionaire who was being transported in a fleet of vehicles to Karimjee Grounds.
President John Magufuliwas was among the hundreds of mourners, who paid their last respect to the body of the late IPP group of companies founder at the grounds.
Mengi’s death comes just six months after the death of his ex-wife and IPP co-founder, Mercy Anna Mengi. Mercy died on October 31, 2018 at Mediclinic Morningside Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she had been admitted.
The two, who married on November 27, 1971, were blessed with three children, Regina, Rodney and Abdiel.
Mengi, 77, in 2015 married Jacqueline Mengi, 39, a former Miss Tanzania 2000 and singer. They were blessed with twins.
His business empire in media includes IPP Media Group that owns 11 newspapers, radio and television stations as well as internet properties.
