Powerful Taste of Freedom: Governor Obado Released on Cash Bail by High Court.

Migori Governor Okoth Obado will rejoin his family after 4 weeks in prison. This follows a decision by High Court Judge Jessie Lessit to grant the governor a  Ksh5 million cash bail in the murder case of Sharon Otieno and her unborn child.

Lesiit further imposed two sureties of Sh5 million each and ordered Obado to deposit his travel documents including all his passports in court.

Governor Obado’s personal aides Michael Oyamo and Casper Obiero were however denied bail with Justice Lessit stating that their freedom would intimidate witnesses in the case. The Prosecution stated that they would be calling 30 witnesses in the case. The pre-trial hearing has been set for February 14, 2019.
