Actress Lupita Nyong’o showed her wild side while stepping out at the 2019 Met Gala. The 36-year-old actress got colorful on the pink carpet at the event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday in New York City.
Lupita is always a treat on the red carpet, need we remind you of the tour de force that was her Us premiere circuit? Once again, she did not disappoint at the 2019 Met Gala.
She arrived to the red carpet channeling Marie Antoinette in Versace. With slivers of neon green, sky blue and hot pink hues that created a rainbow aesthetic, Nyong’o donned far-reaching butterfly wings (which extended to the top of her coif to below her waist) and tulle that helped her nail the “camp” theme. The Us actress finished her look by accessorizing her star-patterned dress with candy-colored jewels.
This year’s theme for the Met Gala was “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” which was inspired by writer Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, “Notes on ‘Camp’”. Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Serena Williams and Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele are co-chairing the fundraiser for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
