At least two Members of Parliament who are allied to National Super Alliance (NASA) have defied a directive given by their leaders not attend the official opening of Parliament.
Webuye East MP Alfred Sambu and his Hamisi counterpart Charles Gimose were the only legislators out of the 136 from the opposition who showed up in Parliament.
Their act comes after Moses Wetangula and other NASA leaders ordered members not to attend the session graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Raila and other leaders were in Kibra holding a rally while the President Kenyatta was in Parliament.
According to Sambu, there was no harm for him going to listen to the President.
Sambu and Gimose belong to Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford Kenya led by Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula respectively.
Wetangula stated that Kenyatta was not supposed to convene Parliament as his reelection was nullified and a new election date set for fresh exercise.
