It is a great day for Kenyans in Diaspora, and those back home who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Essence Ventures, the independent Black-owned consumer technology company focused on merging content, community and commerce to meet the evolving cultural and lifestyle needs of people of color has announced that Caroline Wanga will be the interim CEO of Essence Communications. According to a statement by the organization, Caroline “will work with team leads across the organization and run day to day operations, as well as oversee the independent review process.”
Caroline was set to join Essence effective June 29th as the Chief Growth Officer, a role which was to see her lead new growth opportunities, market strategy and culture across the Essence Ventures portfolio.
The Essence portfolio includes ESSENCE Communications, Inc., Afropunk, and Naturally Curly, among others.
Prior to joining Essence, Caroline worked at the giant Target as the Chief Culture, Diversity & Inclusion Officer and Vice President of Human Resources. Caroline began her Target career in supply chain, serving in a variety of transformational leadership roles, including modernizing Supply Chain, Business Intelligence, Digital and Strategy capabilities.
