Kenyan Couple in New Jersey Found Dead From Apparent Murder-Suicide, Gun Involved


Authorities  Jersey City in New Jersey are investigating a murder-suicide after police discovered bodies of a man and woman dead from gunshot wounds in different parts of their home.

Henry Okongo and Lydiah Okongo were found inside a Country Village home suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to neighbors who talked to local media, and going by social media posts by Kenyans who knew the couple, Lydiah worked as a nurse while Henry owned a few laundromats. In 2013, hundreds of residents rallied around Henry Okongo to help him save his business when his lease was up and he was behind in rent.

Neighbors gathering around the home described the Okong’os  as “lovely people” who kept their home well maintained. A family member discovered the bodies and the couple’s children, a 2-month-old and a 5-year-old, are believed to have been inside the home when the gunfire erupted.

The investigations will give answers on who shot the gun and what drove the shooter to commit this heinous act.
