Celebrated and influential American musician Beyonce has joined other celebrities and the world in condemning police brutality in Nigeria amid the ongoing protests.
The protests that have now lasted for over 12 days took a disturbing turn after police killed a number of protesters at Lagos’ Lekki toll gate on Tuesday.

In a statement shared on her official social media pages, Beyonce joined Nigerians in calling for the end of SARS as she expressed disgust over the ruthless actions of Nigerian police against its citizens.
“I am heartbroken to see the senseless brutality taking place in Nigeria. There has to be an end to SARS.” reads her statement in part
As a sign of solidarity, Beyonce also made it known that she has been working with several youth organizations to support protestors who advocate for change and provide emergency healthcare food and shelter under the same partnership.
Amid the escalating protests, she also expressed full support for the Nigerians and their efforts to bring a change in their country.
“To our Nigerian sisters and brothers we stand with you” she added
Her statement comes days after fans called for her to weigh in on the matter and lend her voice by joining the campaign.
