Meet Tanisha Scott, The Dancer in Sean Paul’s Still In Love Video
l was reading about musician Lizzo and man, I stumbled upon someone you all know too well
My interest in learning about Lizzio was piqued by her winning the Record of the year award at the Grammys.
It happens that Lizzio also has a dancing competition for plus size women. You know who the creative director and choreographer of the show is?
Tanisha Scott
You will recall Ms. Scott from Sean Paul’s video of the song “I am still in Love With You:” In the video, Ms. Scott dons a pinstripe, “reke nemwo” shorts and multi-layered crop top with a white vintage newsboy cap. The way she shakes her you know what, complimented by her “come get me” type of a look, oh man! wacha
Tanisha Scott was born in Canada to Jamaican parents. After that sterling work with Sean Paul, she became one of the most sought after dancers. She has worked with Rihanna, Beyoncé among other A-list musicians. Now she gets paid to direct others how to dance.
In a past interview, she was asked how she is able to
move and shake her body. This was her answer:
“It’s just how I move, how people from the culture move. I wanted to show that it was a specific kind of dance — it’s not hip-hop, it’s not Hawaiian, it’s not belly dancing. At its core, it centers around the hips, but it follows the music, so it’s controlled, purposeful movement. Not everyone can do it, but if you’re from the Caribbean or if you’re from Africa, it might come naturally to you.”
